Subjects

In the English language a subject is most often the noun or pronoun that performs the verb.

  • My computer was infected with a virus.
  • Plumbers are at work.
  • Jane and I went to the cinema.
  • A back cat crossed our path.
  • Mike will be mad at me!

A gerund can behave as a subject:

  • Eating junk food is unhealthy.
  • Waiting too long can have long-term affects on the child.

An infinitive can behave as a subject:

  • Who to go with is a difficult question.
