Hello,
I find that "English Grammar In Use" books by Raymond Murphy is one of the best books concerning grammar for both teachers and students.
You have explanations and exercises to do. In addition, you have the answers to the exercises at the back of the book.
It's very direct and easy to understand.
To answer your question in sum; we use will and going to for future tenses.
Use WILL when you decide to do something at the time of speaking and GOING TO when you have already decided to do something in the future.
Example; I will have a party next week (just decided at the moment of speaking)
I am going to have a party next week (decided last week to have a party).
